And by that of course, I mean both he and I have to learn all of that fancy stuff!

Hmm I should update this thing.
Maverick is finally figuring out how to stay on his correct leads.
He's finally learning his distances from jumps... although the first jump is usually 2'6" over an 18"er.
He's leaning on the bit, and it's kind of getting worse.. I have him in a waterford, but I'm thinking of trying a hackamore this evening.

Katie came out on Sunday, and rode Maverick for a bit.
She is coming out today, I'm rather excited.
1. I rather enjoy watching other people ride him to see his progress.
2. I htink a fresh pair of legs will be good for him.
3. Sometimes I'm way to nice and let him get away with to much.
4. It will be nice to have someone on the ground when I ride him just to correct leads faster, set up jumps

I think I might be buying half of the horse Margaret just bought.
1. To be my show horse
2. To be a resale project
3. To work on my skills and not just Mavericks.

I like lists apparently

Well I'm going to my first show..
And i want to take a few more lessons before I get there.
So I need to sell this stuff to afford it!!
I have this stuff very cheap!!
It does not include shipping.
Orange quarter sheet to keep you and your horse warm, winter is back!!

This has a 30" drop and can be sized to fit your horse!
$25
Black and white quarter sheet with a 25" drop this can be sized to fit a 76" blanket or smaller $20

Steel toed boots that are slightly used. There is also steel over the tounge.. I got these because my feet are ruined from getting steeped on over the years (my feet are always! in the way!)

They are lightly used, with a few scratches.. but really in perfect condition!
$10

A pair of dingo cowboy boots. they are a men size 9

They are in no means perfect show condition. but are great for around the barn.
$7

Marroon Cob break away halter. brand new.

I also have a purple quarter sheet or cooler for a size 78" or less
a for example picture.. but not the actual picture

Cooler is going to be 40
and quarter sheet is going to be 25

Also I have a horsey sweater for sale
$15

Please let me know if you are interested in any of this ..
I have pictures.. Just let me know what you want
I went to the fabric store and took a bunch of pictures of the different patterns I can do, someone asked and i have super slow at getting back at them (you will get a PM soon!)
So if anyone wants a cooler or anything with a particular patter I have like 100 different options now!
So if you need something particular (from checks to sponge bob)
let me know!

The lesson today went pretty good.
Had some trouble loading Mave.
He only reared twice, but that was two times to much.

As always he was a doll in the arena.
We are improving a lot on our turns.
He is staying on the wall a lot better.
His balence has improved a lot!

I wanted to see how he would be with ground poles.
So we set up two.
he didn't even flinch.
I was so proud of him.
Next week we are going to give him something small to work on.
I'm excited.
I really want to work on his canter also.

I hope to be able to bring him to a show on the 22.
I dunno if we will compete.
I think I just may take him to school him in the ring if that is possible.

Still kind of frustrating I think for both of us to be working on such simple things.
But still learning a lot.

I spent some time grooming both of the boys.
And Maverick was the sweetest thing ever.
he would just put his head into my arms.
And then he would start grooming me.
He is the sweetest horse ever.
I honestly don't think I have ever meet such a sweet horse in my life.
He melts my heart.
I'm excited, the first thing I will do in my twentith year is see my baby boy.
Honesty, what a better way to start your day then to give your horse a hug.
I realized what an amazing bond we have,
and how lucky I am to have this opprotunity.
To have found this horse.
What an amazing fate it truely wast to get him.
I went to an auction to buy a saddle.
And I came home with a horse.
And at auction, it is really a crap shoot buying a horse.
You don't have time to bond with a horse.
But I couldn't have found a more amazing horse.
He is *the one*
now to find a human man.
O to be 20!!!

Lesson 3 [Jan. 25th, 2006|11:55 pm]
It was a very windy day..
Wind and Maverick...
Are like viniger and water.
They really just don't get along.
But everything went smoothly today.
The trailer was hooked up with ease.
He loaded pretty easily.
Didn't bouce around to much in the trailer.
(I'm also not a nervous mom.. I almost pucked with nerves the first trailer ride there)

We have to park in the church parking lot across the street then walk up the long driveway to the barn
due to the trailer tearing up the driveway the first day.
He was ok... not perfect some trotting and side movement.
Clamed down by then end of the driveway.

I think he thinks he might still be going back the the auction.
But he calms down more and more each time we go there.
He stood nicely in the cross ties while I fiddled around and tacked him up.

Then we went in the arena with two other horses.
Margret (the trainer) was finishing up a lesson.
And someone was walking/standing with some horse (kinda weird)
She then left the arena..

That's when things got a bit interesting.
Mr. Mean was upset that his new buddy left him.
He wanted to get in that stall with the guy.
O was he upset.
He finally calmed down..
With lots of fast trotting and small circles.
When it was time for his other buddy to leave.
This time he was ok..
But Margret walked around with him to keep him calm.
Such a baby.
I don't remember the last time I was lead.
It was kinda frustrating to be honest..
Needed.
But..

The lesson was pretty good.
We worked on walk/trot stuff with him not falling in with his outside shoulder at the turns.
And getting the whole circle perfected.
I have to say it's kinda weird.
Going back to the basics.
Again needed.
But I feel like I have taken 2 steps back not forward.
But at the same time I am learning a lot.
Or refreshing a lot.
It has been so long since I have had real instruction.
Really I haven't had a whole lot of formal instruction at all.
I just tried to train my dad's horse..
I never had the means for my own horse.
And my father's and mine relationship has always been one hell of a rocky boat ride.

I think it is frustrating for Maverick too.
He is so inteligent.
And I know he gets boared with all of this simple stuff.
It's kinda like those genius kids..
They do horrible in 5th grade.
But as soon as they skip a few grades they excell.
He by no means is doing bad.
But I can feel him get bored.
But conditioning is much much needed.
Although I sometimes wish there was a presto button.
And we could get down to business.
But we are learning so much.
And this is all such a good learning experiance.
Plus I am going over there one more time a week to just ride.
So hopefully with that.
the lesson.
And the 1-3 days that i can just hop on at home
We will get back into shape.
There is a show Feb. 22 .
I would love to be able to do a w/t/c class with him.
But I don't know if that is a realistic goal..
Only time will tell.

I just bought all of my nice new clothes (EK)
so now i need some help picking my classes, beacuse I don't have a trainer (well other than myself)
There is only flat classes at the show, so I don't have to worry about jumping..
But any explanations, hints, tips, pros, cons on these classes would be much appriciated

Reg. AQHA Halter
Open Adult Pleasure (is this just Western or English also? Ect)
Sr Hunst Seat Pleasure- 19 Yrs and over
Open AGUA Pleasure
Sr Hunt Seat Quitation

I'm not going to do all of them, maybe 3ish
